EDWARD SZKLARCZUK After a courageous battle with cancer, our beloved father and husband Edward Szklarczuk, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, aged 66, with his wife and children by his side. Dad will be greatly missed by his wife Elsie; daughter Darlene (Matt) sons, Ken (Tanya), Eddie (friend Kim), Brian (Suzanne) and foster children, Jason and Kenny. He will also be missed by numerous friends and family. A special thanks to Bruce, auntie Hilda, Mel and Rosie for all their support throughout these trying times. Dad was predeceased by his parents and two brothers in Poland. Dad lived through one of the greatest periods of our time. We all fondly recall the stories he would tell around the kitchen table of his childhood in Poland, his time in the Polish Army, his journey to Canada and the life he started with our mom Elsie, our sister Darlene and our brother Ken. His love for family and a desire for a rich and rewarding life and career shaped Dads life. He trained in Poland as a diesel mechanic, a trade for which he was always passionate and a skill which would shape his career at Kenworth. Dad was generous with his time and imparted much knowledge to the apprentices he trained. All have fond memories of him. Dads dream in life was to provide the gift of education to his children. He did that with great pride and success. He also had a love of sports and creative energy, which he passed on to his children. Many thanks to the caregivers at Seven Oaks Hospital and HSC, whose compassion and support have been greatly appreciated. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave., with longtime friend Rev. Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Edwards dear friends. Donations may be made in Edwards memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
