MR. CHOY YIP CHICK On Wednesday, June 6, 2001, Mr. Choy Yip Chick passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after struggling with the impacts of a stroke suffered many years ago. Mr. Choy was born on June 11, 1916 in China. He was educated in Singapore, and was fluent in many dialects of Chinese, Malay, English. Upon his return to China in 1938, he wed Choy Lam Sik Choi. During their 63 year marriage they had six daughters, two sons, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Choy will be sadly missed by his wife, as well as his surviving children, son Chot Kwong and wife Claudia, daughter Man Fong and husband Yau To Yin, daughter, Oi Fong and husband Wai Sum Lam, daughter Pui Fong and husband Patrick Chan, daughter Yew Fong and husband Bill Lim, and daughter Suet Fong and husband Michael Yau. He will also be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Canada, China, U.S. and Hong Kong. Much gratitude and appreciation is extended to the staff at Central Park Lodge for their kindness to Mr. Choy during his stay. In particular, many thanks to the 4th floor nursing staff and his friends on the 4th floor. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Interment to follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Choy to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8, or any other charitable organization of choice.
