BUHLER Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at the Portage General Hospital, Peter Buhler aged 87 years of MacGregor, MB. Peter was born January 10, 1914 at Aberdeen, SK where he grew up and received his education. In 1935 at Aberdeen he married Susanna Quiring. They farmed at Aberdeen until 1939 when they moved to Manitoba into the Helston Mayfeld District. In 1962 Peter was ordained a minister by EMMC. He continued to farm and served as minister at Mayfeld until 1969. In 1969 he moved to St. Laurent where he began ministering full time and served as minister there until 1976. From 1976 to 1978 he ministered in Waterloo, ON. In 1978 he returned to St. Laurent and served as minister until 1982. In 1982 Peter retired to MacGregor where he has since resided. One of the important times in Peters life was during the winter of 1968-1969 when he had the opportunity to attend Steinbach Bible Institute. Peter was actively involved in the communities where he resided. In St. Laurent he served on the ARDA Board. Predeceased by his parents; wife Susanna in 1978; his second wife Mary in 1991; five brothers; and three sisters. Left to mourn his passing are four daughters and two sons, Susan (Henry) Epp of Kitchener, Betty (Lawrence) Bickford of Carberry, Mary (Jake) Peters of Austin, Jerry (Cathy) Buhler of Traverse Bay, MB, Dan (Jeannette) Buhler of Winnipeg, Sandra (Cyril) Ducharme of Winnipeg; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister Anne (Jake) Zacharias; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and special friends Abe Doerksen and Lydia Friesen, as well as numerous friends and relatives. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10 at Clarkes Funeral Chapel, MacGregor from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the Austin EMMC Church with Mr. Fred Buhler officiating. Interment will follow at the Austin Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Epp, Mark Peters, Abe Froese, Blaine Buhler, Gene Buhler, and Troy Ducharme. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the EMMC Building Project Bolivia, in care of 755 St. Annes Rd., Winnipeg, MB, R2N 4G6. Clarkes Funeral Home, MacGregor in care of arrangements.
