WILLIAM ALBIN HENDERSON It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Albin Henderson on May 16, 2001 in White Rock, BC in his 88th year. He was born in Winnipeg on November 1, 1913. He was the eldest son of Grace and Albin Henderson. He attended Gladstone and Earl Grey School. He enlisted in May of 1941 and served with the XII Manitoba Dragoons until September of 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal 1939-45. He met and married his wife Eveline of 57 years while in service in Britain. Upon returning to civilian life he worked driving logging truck. He worked for McDiarmid Lumber for almost 20 years. He then worked for Embassy Furniture until his retirement. He and his wife Eveline moved to White Rock, BC where he spent the remainder of his days. Besides his loving wife Eveline, he is survived by his daughters and son, Brenda (Steve, Terri and Scott) Higham, Joan (Ernie, Kathie, Adele, Todd) Siefke, Carol (Ernie, Darcy, Karen) Muth, Adele (Gerry, Zak and Lucas) Modjeski, Christine (Lindsay, Andrea and Stuart) Thompson, Robert Henderson; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Kyle and Makayla. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Clarence; his sisters, Phyllis and Katherine. Bill will be remembered by his family and friends, for his unconditional love and honesty. Our father enjoyed a long and loving life. He always gave more than he ever asked. He was our hero in war and peace. He made a point of reminding us of how deeply he valued and loved each of us. This family is only separated by distance because Dad was the bond that kept us together and the memory of his love and strength will continue this bond. For the special times we say "Thank you". You were our sunshine, our bright sunshine. You made us happy when skies were gray. We hope you know Dad, how much well miss you. So long for now Dad, well meet again some day. Now you lay down to sleep, we pray the Lord your soul to keep. Good Bye Dad. Service took place at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, White Rock, with cremation following. Interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg at a date to be announced later.
