MARY BIRT MacKELVIE April 19, 1911 - June 7, 2001 Peacefully, in her home on Thursday, June 7, 2001, surrounded as she was in her life by the love of her family. Mary had been looking forward to pictures and description of the wedding of granddaughter Sara to Ian Kirkpatrick in Victoria, BC this Saturday, June 9. She regretted that she and Hibbard would not be attending, but was thrilled that so many family members would be there. Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Lulu Birt; and her son Jake. Mary is survived by her grief stricken husband Charles Hibbard; and daughters, Mary Ellen (Keith) Perry, Martha Lou (David) Brousseau; son James Hibbard (Jean) MacKelvie; and daughter-in-law Amy (widow of J.C. MacKelvie) great-grandchildren, Conner of Calgary, AB, Joel of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren, Susan (George Comrie), Ralph (Noreen) MacKelvie all of Calgary, Lori MacKelvie (Robb Oades) of Winnipeg, Sara, fiancee (Ian Kirkpatrick) and Lisa Perry of Victoria, BC, Jennifer (Chris) Newton, Jill fiancee (Kris Skelly) and and Taylor MacKelvie of Edmonton. She is also survived by brother-in-law Vernon MacKelvie of Ottawa, ON. Mary recently had a wonderful visit with her first cousin John W. Bell of Oakville, ON. Mary was married October 3, 1934 after earning her B.Sc. of Home Economics at the University of Manitoba. Besides acquiring great cooking skills, she became an expert with needle and sewing machine. Hibbard and her children were delighted and proud to wear outfits she designed. She had a wonderful sense of humour, quick wit, giving nature and warm heart. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, 255 Oak St. Our family is grateful to Grace Hospital nurses and staff and Dr. Doug Birt, Drs. Hartley and Fox for long time care of Mary on two occasions while recovering from fractures of both hips. Special thanks to the private care of two years to Leonie Manguba, home care givers, Jolita, Diane and Aggie and to Evelyn from We Care. If friends so desire, donations may be made to St. Andrews River Heights United Church. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1858 Portage Avenue 949-4872
