SAM PALAY On Monday, May 21, 2001 Sam (Alexander) Palay passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was 91 years of age on March 4. Sam was born in 1910 in Winnipeg. Sam lived with his family in Prince Albert, SK where he was in business for more than 25 years. He retired in Winnipeg. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle and a great friend to all he came in contact with. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Tammy; his daughter Gayle; and his grandsons, Chris and Kevyn; his brother Abe; sister Sara; and his many nieces and nephews. A funeral took place on Tuesday, May 22. Interment at Shaarey Zedek Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to Rabbi Cantor, Sid and Pearl Palay, Carol Kravetsky, Ricki and Gary Miles, and the medical staff at Seven Oaks hospital. Sam was a special individual. He valued family and friendship in a most profound way. He always had a funny story to tell, a joke to share and a reason to praise others. He delighted in the accomplishments of the children in the family and always made them feel proud of what they had accomplished. In honour of his memory, his daughter shares a poem written by her and given to him on Fathers Day in 1995. A FATHERS GIFT He gave me something special, Not things bought from a shelf, He gave me something special, He gave me, myself. He gave me something special, Yes love, but so much more. He gave me something special, Not found in any store. He taught me how to use my mind, To listen and to question. He taught me how to use my mind, A most important lesson. He taught me to respect myself and everything I do. Have confidence, and face whats next, Say, "Im as good as you!" He made me feel quite beautiful, Not through the mirrors glance, But from within my spirits place Where dwells the hearts romance. He thought and planned and worked To make my world a cherished place. Protected me From all the soot and soil of Mans disgrace. He taught me with a laugh, a smile, And discipline ther too. He guided me until my mind said "I believe in you!"
