Bella was born in 1904 in Barwick, ON and came to Manitoba with her parents and siblings to settle in the Birnie and Riding Mountain area. Years later, she met Wes Ducklow, they were married and had three daughters who were raised in Riding Mountain, MB. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she was the pillar around which our family was built. She gave us the gifts of unconditional love and encouragement and respected us all in spite of our differences. She never judged us but passed her values on to us by telling us stories about her life. Bella loved to hear a good joke, but loved even more to tell one, right up to her final days. She had a kind word for everybody. It is said that the quality of ones life is measured in the number of their friends. Bella had the highest quality of life as reflected by the number of people who called her their friend. Bella enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing, specializing in dresses for her girls. Nobody could pass by her home without stopping to admire the beautiful garden, which was a reflection of the beauty inside her. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service time. Interment will take place following the service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Heartfelt thanks to our friends Susan and Ken Edie who gave their time so generously. Special thanks to the staff at Oakview Place for their gentle care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Oakview Place, 2395 Ness Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 1A5, Attention Recreational Activities or The Sunshine Fund (camp for kids) at 194-A Sherbrook St., Winnipeg MB R3C 2B6. Though our hearts ache at her passing, she has waited for her voyage home for a very long time. We love you. Bon voyage. God looked around His garden And found an empty space He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest; Gods garden must be beautiful He only takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine". It broke our hearts to lose you But you never went alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.
