MARY EVA "DOREEN" WILSON (nee HALL) Peacefully surrounded by family, Mary Eva "Doreen" Wilson (nee Hall), left this world for a better place on Friday, June 8, 2001 at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB. Born in Winnipeg on July 27, 1926, Doreen was first and foremost a loving wife and mother and nothing pleased her more than to be with her family. She always put the needs of her family before her own and rejoiced in the accomplishments of her two daughters and two sons-in-law. Making a home for George, Yvonne and Kathy was a challenge she met with love and grace. Doreen was very active in the United Church, having taught Sunday School and CGIT. She was awarded lifetime membership in the UCW in recognition of her many years of service. Many former students from Sansome Junior High and Westwood Collegiate will remember the help they received from Mrs. Wilson in the school offices where she worked for many years. Doreen was an active community volunteer, helping out with projects as diverse as Meals on Wheels and the Manitoba Summer Games. Travelling was a passion for Doreen and she cherished memories of trips to France, Hawaii, Israel and Portugal. But the most treasured trips were those that took her to Banff and Calgary to visit her family. She leaves to mourn, her husband George of 52 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Douglas Machuk of Banff, and Kathy and John Paulsen of Calgary; a sister Marjorie Taylor; and nephew John Taylor of Winnipeg; a niece Patricia Taylor of Calgary; and cousin Grace Mattern and family of Winnipeg; members of the Wilson, Machuk and Paulsen families and many close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Alethea and Marshall Hall. Funeral services will be held at Kirkfield Park United Church (472 Kirkfield St., Winnipeg) on Thursday, June 14 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will follow. The family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of the Cardiac Care Unit No. 81 and the CICU No. 94 at Foothills Hospital for their loving care of Doreen. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made directly to Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield St., Winnipeg, MB R3K 1E6. In living memory of Doreen Wilson a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, "Crowfoot Chapel," 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W., CALGARY, AB.
