Millie was born on a homestead in Brightstone, MB on April 10, 1924. She attended a one-room school and at age 16 went to work at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. This began a lifelong dedication to work in the health care field. Over the years she worked in Winnipeg and Toronto as a ward clerk, home care worker and a secretary for Manitoba Public Health. Millie was a voracious reader and a master gardener. She was also highly skilled in sewing and designer knitting. She was an avid traveller, visiting Europe, Africa, the United States and Canada from coast to coast. She approached everything she did with irrepressible wit, which carried her though many life challenges and through her final illness. The family is deeply grateful for the gentle professionalism of Palliative Care Coordinator Cheryl Smith and family physician Dr. Gian Haggard. Also for the care of Drs. Harris, Chowdhury, Irving; the staff of the Lac du Bonnet Clinic and of Pinawa, Concordia and Grace Hospitals; Home Care Coordinator Sharon Kuzyk, and home care workers Tracey, Seeta and Jocelyn. Millie gave so much of herself to so many that she will be deeply missed. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Notre Dame du Lac Roman Catholic Church, Lac Du Bonnet; Rev. Fr. R. Machura the celebrant.
