RENE J. S. NENKA Suddenly and peacefully, on Friday, June 8, 2001, Rene passed away in Thompson, MB. Rene was born on May 21, 1970 in Winnipeg, MB, and was employed with Manitoba Government Services Security in Dauphin and Thompson, MB. Rene was predeceased by his father Paul J. S. Nenka on September 17, 2000 and his grandfather Stephen Nenka on August 24, 1995. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and very special soulmate Marie; his devoted mother Dorilda; his baba Mary Nenka; his brother Nelson (Angela) his sister Cindy (Dave) his nieces and nephews, Courtnie, his special godson Jarrett, Joshua, Gavin, Caitlynn; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Marie Rohleder; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom (Dolores), Cecile (Maurice), Richard (Barb), Annette, Joanne (Marvel), Teresa (Brian), Eric (Sandra), Barb (Grant), Andy (Susana) and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and both extended family members. Rene (a.k.a. Nancy) was an active sports fanatic involved in hockey, baseball, soccer and golf throughout his life in which he touched the hearts of numerous people including his three best friends, Michael Zakowich (a.k.a. Michelle), Andy Larson (a.k.a. Andrea) and Michael Krakalovich, who all knew Rene best as Nenx. He showed his baseball talents at the Nenka Diamond in Sundown, MB, where he also enjoyed hunting with the guys (you know who you are) and taking his nature walks where he loved to watch and hear the water ripple in the creek. Rene will be best remembered by his contagious and unique laugh. His ability to always shoot the s--t with anyone he encountered, especially with the elderly in which he took his time to sit and talk with them. He was generous and rich at heart. You could always count on Rene to be a trickster with his nieces, nephews, friends and family. You always knew he was up to something when he had that smirky grin on his face. According to Renes wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Zakowich, Andy Larson, Michael Krakalovich, Andy Rohleder, Harvey Sanderson and Godfrey Gregoire. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St. Winnipeg, R2V 3M3, in memory of his loving dad, Paul Nenka. We will always love you Good Bye, My Friend CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
