ANNO DEKKER Suddenly but peacefully on Monday, June 11, 2001 with his family by his side, Anno Dekker was taken home at the age of 86 years. Left with countless and precious memories are his loving wife Janet (Jantje) daughter Anna (Anneke) Funk, son-in-law Art, Winnipeg, son Melgert (Michael), daughter-in-law Gudrun, Vernon, BC; sister Annie Frugt-Dekker, The Netherlands; grandchildren, Jennifer and Eric Funk, Winnipeg; and his supportive church family, the Covenant Christian Reformed Church on Knowles Avenue. Anno was born on April 17, 1915 in Blijham, The Netherlands. On June 5, 1947 he married Janet and in 1954 brought his family to Winnipeg. Before his retirement, Anno worked as a bus driver for the River East School Division. Anno often talked about the wonderful trips to Spain, Hawaii, Florida, Arizona and The Netherlands that he shared with Janet. An unforgettable moment for Anno and his son Michael was watching The Netherlands play in the World Soccer Championship. Funeral services will be held at the Covenant Christian Reformed Church at 653 Knowles Ave., North Kildonan, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Green Acres for the family, at a time to be determined. Our thanks go out to all who enriched Annos life with their time, thoughts and care. We also wish to thank Shelley at the Concordia Hospital Intensive Care Unit for her sensitive support at a most difficult time. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to make a donation to a charity of their choice.
