MARGARET IRENE ELIZABETH ANDERSON On Wednesday, June 13, 2001 , at the Oakview Place Nursing Home, Margaret Anderson aged 91 years, loving widow of the late Cecil Gudmunder Anderson of Gimli passed away after a lengthy illness. Marge and Cecil were married in 1929, and raised their family on Beverley Street in Winnipeg. In 1972 they retired to their cottage in Gimli, enjoying many happy years with their children and grandchildren around them. While raising her family Margaret was a member of the First Icelandic Lutheran Church Dorcas Society in Winnipeg, always happy to bake or cook for suppers and bake sales. She was also a member of the PTA of the John M. King School and continued to work with them long after her children had left the school. Margaret also took great satisfaction from having worked for Nancy Goldstein in running a childrens safety program called Nancy land. Moms greatest happiness however came from caring from her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember her chocolate cakes, Christmas at grandmas house and celebrating grandmas birthday on Icelandic weekend. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband Cecil in 1993; her son Cecil Jr. in 2001; and an infant daughter Patricia Jean in 1943. She is survived by her son Claude of Selkirk, MB; daughter Yvonne Patricia of Gimli; grandsons, Cec and wife Connie, Chris and wife Nancy; granddaughters, Claudia and husband David Calvez, Robertta; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Bill, Greg, and Kristyn. She is also survived by two dear and loyal friends, Elsie Duke and Margaret Challes. Immediate cremation has taken place and a private family ash interment will be held. The family would like to thank the nurses and all the staff of the Oakview Place Nursing Home for their care and kindness to Margaret during the years she lived there, and particularly the nurses working on Tuesday night who were so kind and helped the family through a very difficult time. Gilbart Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
