AUDREY GALBRAITH BIRD (nee McKENZIE) January 17, 1908 - June 11, 2001 Audrey passed away peacefully on Monday June 11, 2001 at the Charleswood Care Centre at the age of 93. Mom was born in Neepawa, the youngest of eight children, earning the nickname "Babe". She was the last of the McKenzie clan. Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Penny Plantje (John) of Sherwood Park, AB; their son Jeff (Michelle) of Winnipeg, MB; and daughter Jill Plantje of Edmonton, AB. She will also be greatly missed by her son David Galbraith (Susan) and their four children, Gina, Jessie, Ashley and Sean David of Sacramento, CA. Left to cherish her memory are Bevis Bird (Dr. Richard Bird, DDS (Dick) deceased 1987) their children, Susan Hunter (Charley), Maureen Stammers (Ken), Michael (Rhonda) and six great-grandchildren. Babe was predeceased by her first husband J.E. (Jack) Galbraith in 1956. She is survived by brother-in-law P.Douglas McKechnie of Calgary, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Frank and Eva Sissons of Portage la Prairie, MB. Audrey and husband Dr. Roland Bird, DDS (deceased July 1990) enjoyed several trips together during their 25 years of marriage. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Graveside service and interment will take place at the McKenzie family plot in Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, on Saturday, June 23 at 11:30 a.m. Dave and Penny greatly appreciate the caring and kindness of Bevis and her family, to all Moms friends who helped her in various ways - Thank You.
