JOYCE ADA ADAMS (nee COY) On June 9, 2001, surrounded by family and an excellent medical team at The Royal University Hospital in Saskatchewan, Joyce passed away. Joyce will be sorrowfully missed and always remembered by her loving children, her son Neil Adams of Winnipeg; her daughter Brenda Adams and Brendas son Nolan Adams of Birch Hills, SK; her daughter Susan Stobbs, son-in-law Ken Stobbs and their children, Luke and Samantha Stobbs of Brancepeth, SK; and her son Joel Adams of Vancouver Island, BC. Joyce will be sadly missed by her loving and faithful sister, Dorothy MacDonald and husband Frank of Winnipeg. Also mourning Joyces passing are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former acquaintances from the workplace. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1984, her son Terry in 1988, her mother Ada in 1971, her father Thomas in 1963, her sister Rene in 1974, her brother Ron in 1983, her mother-in-law Helen in 1977, her father-in-law George in 1982, her very dear friend Cecil B. Maw in 2001, along with other close relatives and friends. Joyce was born and raised in Winnipeg. She married the true love of her life, Bill Adams in 1951. Joyce was a devoted wife and mother. She continued her unselfish act of motherhood (love, generosity and forgiveness) right until her untimely death. Joyce retired from The University of Winnipeg in February 1995, where she had been head of the Switchboard Department. She took great pride in her work. She was given noted respect from her colleagues and she reciprocated that respect. Shortly after her retirement, Joyce moved to Prince Albert, SK to be closer to her precious grandchildren. Here she gained new acquaintances. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, with Rev. Michael Boulger officiating. Interment will follow directly after the service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Adams, Norman Ans, Vernon Martin, Ron Townsley. Active pallbearers will be Raymond Irving, Allan Kozminski, Glenn Muzik, Albert Sigfussion, Ken Stobbs and Luke Stobbs. Anyone wishing to make memorial donations can do so to the University Relations, University of Winnipeg, 515 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2E9. "When a Mother breathes her last farewell, The stroke means more than tongue can tell, The world seems quite another place, Without the smile of Mothers face."
