Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS K. LOVATT After a long struggle with Alzheimers, Dad passed away at Riverview Health Centre on June 9, 2001. Dad was predeceased by his wife Geordie, on October 3, 1994. He is survived by three sons, Tom (Betty) of Winnipeg, Brad (Rose), grandson Ben, of Toronto, Arny (Diane), and granddaughters, Charmaine and Justine, of Winnipeg. Dad was born on a farm, in Carol, MB on June 12, 1922. When war broke out in 1940, Dad enlisted in the R.C.A.F., and served as a maintenance mechanic for Spitfire and Lancaster bombers. He was stationed in Biggin Hill, England for five years, receiving an honourable discharge in 1945. Upon his return to civilian life, Dad began a career in food sales, working with a number of major food companies, such as Libbys, Stuart House, and Canadian Canners. On July 16, 1949, Dad married Geordie Coxon and started a family in Brandon, MB. In 1957, the family moved to Winnipeg, for the last time. The next 20 years would see the family grow up, with Dad being an active member in the community club, coaching hockey and baseball, as well as bowling in several different leagues. Retirement soon followed, and Dad finally had the time to explore other avenues of interest, including carpentry, swimming, and travelling. Mom and Dad travelled to Portugal and England frequently. With Mothers passing, Dad slowly succumbed to Parkinsons and Alzheimers disease and the last six years of his life were spent at Riverview Health Centre. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff on A&B ward at Riverview for their dedicated and compassionate treatment of our father, and for making his last years as comfortable as possible. A memorial service will be held at Riverview Health Centre Chapel on Monday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m.
