GEORGE JON BJORNSON On Thursday, June 14, 2001, George Bjornson of Vita Personal Care Home, formerly of Piney, passed away at the Vita Hospital at the age of 84 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elizabeth; three sisters, Inga Nowazek of Flin Flon, Emily (Randoll) Clark of Veincennese, IN, Cristen Harling of Vita; nieces; nephews; and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Hjorleifur and Elin Bjornson; three brothers, Gunner, Liefur, Barney; and one sister Bertha. George served his country in the Second World War stationed in various points in Europe. Upon his return to Canada, he settled in the Piney area working various jobs including diamond drilling and carpentry, later retiring in Piney. On October 14, 1994, he married Elizabeth Davidson and shared the last seven years together with her. Because of ill health, he took residence in the Vita Personal Care Home on August 22, 2000. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Piney Community Church, Piney, MB with Pastor Louis Hermanson officiating.
