Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMURIEL ANNE BOWLES (nee JOHNSTON) Muriel Anne Bowles passed away June 14, 2001, at Victoria General Hospital, with family at her side. A Winnipegger from her birth on January 28, 1913, Muriel grew up in the citys west end with her sisters, Mildred and Doris and her parents, Jim and Isabella Johnston. She attended public school at Principal Sparling and graduated from Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate where she was a sprinter on the track team. During her early years Muriel and her sisters were frequent visitors with family in and near Sanford, MB. Between 1954 and 1961, she also lived in Saskatoon and North Vancouver. She was predeceased by George her husband of 50 years; by her sister Mil; and by her parents. Muriel will always be fondly remembered by her large and far-flung family that includes son Jim (Maxine) of Toronto; and grandsons, Kevin of Kansas City and Graeme of Toronto; son Bud (Gayle) and granddaughters Shannon and Lauren of Abbotsford BC; grandson Ron (Heather) of Delta, BC; and great-grandchildren, Josh and Julia, Daniel (Megan) of Calgary, Gord of Vancouver and Chris (Gen) of Burnaby, BC; son Lawrie (Stacey) of Port Hardy, BC; grandson Jeremy (Melanie) and great-grandson Kyle of St. Adolphe, MB; granddaughters, Jana (Oscar) of Winnipeg, Rachel (Jeff) of Vancouver and; great-grandson Joel; grandson Jonathon (Angela) of Vancouver, BC; sister Doris; nephew Don in Winnipeg; and niece Susan in Toronto together with their spouses and children; Mils children, Judy of Houston, Texas, Robin in Toronto, Barbara in Lakefield, ON; and nephew Bryan together with their spouses and children; and their parents, Jack and Elaine Wright in Toronto; special friends forever Barbara in Fernie, BC and Linda in Winnipeg. Muriel enjoyed friendships too numerous to mention here that spanned years and generations wherever she lived. In later years they grew to include residents and staff at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre in Fort Garry, her last home. She will also be fondly remembered among the staff and regular guests at the Tiki Hotel on South Padre Island, TX, where Muriel and George spent nine memorable winters.
