STEPHEN FTOMA Suddenly on June 17, 2001 at his home near Selkirk, Steve passed away into the hands of the Father. Steve was born on Dec. 17, 1940 in Selkirk to John and Pauline Ftoma, who predeceased him in 1984 and 1995 respectively. Steve leaves to celebrate his life and wonderful memories, his loving wife Roberta (nee Stevens) his son Gregory (Kim) of Winnipeg; daughter Kelly Weir (Mark) of Water Valley, AB; sisters, Ann Somerfeld (Len), Olga Gnidziejko (Harry), Stella Brink (Len) brother John (Gail) sister-in-law Pat Evers (John) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve retired from the MRM in Selkirk on June 5, 1995 after 36 years of service. During his always cheerful life, Steve was entirely committed to caring for Roberta and his family. Steve was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. He especially took pride in his home and garden and became the family patriarch in hosting annual Christmas and Easter dinners, and celebrations for the entire family. To Steve, his motto was the more the merrier and his cheerful spirit graced all gatherings and visits with laughter, a legacy we promise to keep. Steves request was cremation and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at the St. Clements Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in his memory be directed to the MS Society of Manitoba, 400-141 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0R3 or a charity of your choice. Thank you to the Selkirk Home Care givers and a special thanks to Kim Hawes. Dad, youve inspired us with your wisdom, your strength of character and your devotion to our family. Your spirit will shine in everyone youve touched. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
