DONNA J. F. BRAUN (nee HUNTER) 1943 - 2001 On June 16, 2001, Donna-Jaycee Francis Braun, passed away at Pine Falls Hospital at the age of 57 years. Donna was predeceased by her mother and father, Betty and Herbert "Tim" Hunter. Donnas memory will be forever treasured by her loving husband of 39 years, Gerry; her sons, Curtis (Joanna) and Jason (Janine) her grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor, and Jude; and her dear brother Bob. Also surviving Donna are her brothers-in-law, Richard (Donna), Alexander (Linda), and Darwin (Carol) along with numerous nieces, nephews and very close friend June. Mom was born in Winnipeg on November 6, 1943 and grew up in St. Boniface on Dubuc Street. Later she helped her parents operate Tims (now known as the Red Lantern), a local family owned restaurant. Donna met her lifelong partner, Gerry, while working with the Manitoba Medical Service and they married December 24, 1962. Together, they spent their first year of marriage in Thompson, moving to Dryden, Brandon and then Winnipeg to Avondale Street in St. Vital where she spent the next 15 years raising her children. Donna later studied at the University of Manitoba and was employed with Manitoba Telephone System for 15 years. After retirement, Mom and Dad moved out to the cottage at Lester Beach to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and lovely scenery. Mom enjoyed bowling, billiards (sometimes the VLTs, depending if she won), reading mysteries and was a grandmaster of the crossword puzzles. Even more so, Mom was a nature lover. She loved to see elephants, among other of natures wonderful creatures, roam freely. The family wishes to thank the staff of Pine Falls Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion. Cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Donnas memory to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation of Manitoba, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 0S6.
