ARTUR MAXIMO COSTA It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Artur on June 18, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre. Artur will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife Maria; his children, Joe (Trudy), Victor (Sherry), Arthur (Sandra) and Lizette (Peter) Grivicic; grandchildren, Ana-Maria, Stefanie, Alexander and Christopher. He also leaves to mourn his passing brothers, Jose, Angelino, Joao, Luis and Agostinho; sister Leunor; and numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents, Manuel Maximo da Costa and Maria De Jesus Costa; brother Manuel; sisters, Ortensa and Maria. Artur was born in S. Miguel Acores, Portugal on March 17, 1933 and moved to Winnipeg in 1968. He worked very hard at various construction companies and provided a good home for his family. He later worked for Coldstream and retired in 1985. Artur spent most of his days outdoors and enjoyed gardening on his land. He was seen by many as a happy and cheery man, who always had a smile for everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Prayers will be said on Thursday, June 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. You never said you were leaving, We never got to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it, And only God knows why.
