Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALAN CHARLES EVANS VE4 ECA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on June 17, 2001. Alan was born August 24, 1930 to Edna and Issac in Detroit, MI. They moved to Winnipeg in 1935. He grew up in St. James where he still resided with his wife Helga (Austman) whom he met in 1952 and married in 1954. During their more than 46 years of marriage they were blessed with two daughters, Barbara (Bill) Grant, Carole (Dave) Hanson; and five much loved grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Shane, Jeffrey and Michelle. He also leaves sister Shirley and brother Jack (Janice) of California; in-laws, Edwin (Sharon), Grace (Ernie), Evelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alan was predeceased by his parents; and brother Billy; in-laws Joe and Veiga; brother-in-law Einar; and niece Brenda. Al will be missed by all his family and friends, especially by his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He worked in the printing trade for 43 years, first at Columbia Press and then Public Press and retired in 1988. He briefly worked at the Free Press after his retirement. He was a member of the St. James Masonic Lodge No. 121 for many years. After a heart attack in 1972 he became an avid "CBer" (Bushwacker). In later years he got involved in Ham Radio and was a member of the Winnipeg Senior Citizens Radio Club. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of CCU, MICU and A4 of the Health Sciences Centre for the care and kindness shown to Alan and the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Alans life will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
