Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA ELLA SHORE (nee COSSOY) On Monday, June 18, 2001, Bertha Ella Shore, peacefully passed away. She was the wife of the late David Shore, mother to Norman and mother-in-law to Beth. Bertha was nana to grandchildren, Philip, Sydney and Wayne and great-nana to Sam. She will also be missed by sister Mary Levi; niece Susan Clark; nephews, Greg Clark and Howard Levi; great-niece Isaura Clark; nephew Morley Cohen and his wife Joan; Sandra Guendert and the late Lt. Lawrence Cohen. Bertha was born in Nikoliev, Russia in 1904. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Sonia and Solomon Cossoy and her two brothers, Marcus and Philip Cossoy. Bertha arrived in Canada in 1911 with her parents and brothers and spent her life in Winnipeg. She attended William White School, St. Johns Technical High School and the University of Manitoba. Her volunteer activities were many and included Carmel Clinic, President of the YWHA, Chairman of the YMHA War Efforts Committee during the Second World War. She was also involved with the National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah Wizo. Bertha enjoyed her duplicate bridge games into her early 90s. One of her lifes highlights was enjoying her great-grandson Sam. Thank you to Paula Isfeld and the staff of Central Park Lodge. Special thanks to Doris Skakum for her kindness and care to Bertha. A graveside service will be held at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. June 20, followed by a meal of Consolation at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Donations can be made to the Bertha Shore Fund of the Womens Endowment Jewish Foundation.
