JIM MUTCH Peacefully in Ottawa, on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at the age of 70, James Daryl (Jim) Mutch. Loving husband and lifelong companion of Patricia. Proud and devoted father of Randy (Valerie Barr) of Calgary, AB, Greg of Richmond Hill, ON and Patti (Chris Bradley) of Abbotsford, BC. Cherished grandfather of Hilary and James Mutch and Walker and Ian Bradley. Predeceased in 1994 by his precious granddaughter Jillian Bradley. A pioneer in the Canadian commercial aviation industry, Jim began his career as a baggage handler with Canadian Pacific Airlines in Whitehorse, YT at age 15. Over 37 years, he rose to Senior Director, Sales and Marketing serving from the far reaches of Northern Canada to the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He retired from Canadian in 1988 to accept a position as a distinguished member of the National Transportation Agency. Despite his global postings, he remained true to his Yukon roots. Jim was described recently as a "Renaissance Man" for his aptitude and ability with engines, carpentry and electronics. He loved travel; he was most comfortable in an airplane, behind the wheel of a car or at the helm of a boat. The place he loved most was the island at Minaki, ON where he and Pat spent their summers with family and friends. After retirement, he rediscovered his passion for skiing. He was an official with the Canadian Power Squadron, and a founding member of the Northern Air Transport Association. His many friends around the world will remember him for his warmth, his energy and his fierce loyalty to the people and places he loved. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Rd., Ottawa, ON on Friday, June 22 from 11:00 a.m. until service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
