JOHN WAKSHINSKY It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather at Seven Oaks Hospital on June 19, 2001 at the age of 84 years. John is survived by his loving and devoted children; son Edward (Nan) and grand-daughters Tanya (David) Skiba, Dana (Larry) Thomson and Darcy; son Kenneth (Jeanne) granddaughters, Connie, Stacey (Daryl) Boehm and great-granddaughters Alexandra, Delaney, great-grandson Cory; daughter Beverley (Ronnell) Pirie, grandson Rodney (Cheryl) and great-grandson Justin, daughter Marlene (Ronald) Collett; granddaughters Leigh (Norm) Ellison and Kelly; and grandsons Dean and Brent Wakshinsky; sister Kay Sobovitch. He was predeceased by his loving wife Daisy on August 7, 1997 and son Ronald on June 22, 1991, his parents and a sister. John was born at Libau, MB on May 29, 1917. He worked hard on the family farm. He and Daisy were married on September 25, 1938 and they continued farming and raising their children. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1956 where John worked in the construction industry until he retired from Simmons Rentals. He continued being involved with construction with his sons until his wifes illness kept him at home. The family wishes to thank Danuta, Julian and staff at the Fred Douglas Lodge for their care, and giving him a second home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB with Rev. Peter Cain officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Park, Libau, MB. His pallbearers will be his grandsons, Rodney Pirie, David Skiba, Larry Thomson, Daryl Boehm; and nephews, Dennis Helwer and Donald Helwer. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johns memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Gilbart Funeral Home (Selkirk) in care of arrangements.
