Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD (UNCLE BUD) BARKLEY "Go like a rocket" July 15, 1924 - June 22, 2001 Peacefully, on Friday, June 22, 2001, Harold Barkley passed away at the Maples Personal Care Home. Harold grew up in Winnipeg and attended St. Johns High School. He delivered telegraphs on his bicycle and shovelled coal and then joined the Winnipeg Police Force, where he was an officer for 37 years until he retired. He walked the beat down Main Street, drove the cruiser car in the North End, worked in the jail on Princess and lastly worked at Hartford Police Station. Most police officers will remember Bud for his "cooking" events at the police station. Harold is survived by his wife Jean; sons, Stuart (Marilyn) and Tracy (Linda) daughters, Del and Heather (Ron) of Winnipeg and Beverly (James) of California; grandchildren, Duane (Kim), Dale, Brad, T.J., Megan and Chase; his sister Olive Meder and nephew Clifford (Donna) and good friends, Michael Beaudry and Pat English. The family would like to thank the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home, 2 West, who took great care of our dad. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Internment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
