Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES HUBERT CHIPPERFIELD November 18, 1916 - June 21, 2001 Quickly and peacefully, on June 21, 2001, Jim Chipperfield passed away in his home at the age of 84. Cherished memories will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Dad was born in Hubbard, SK, in 1916 and schooled in Hubbard and Yorkton. A veteran of the Second World War, he came to Minnedosa in 1948 with his brother Eric to open a family business. He operated the business until his retirement at age 75. In 1952, he married Irene Gugin and had four children, Ron, Judy, Jan, and Susan. During and after his term as mayor of Minnedosa, he was involved in the development of the water works, the beach and many other projects. He was also active in many service organizations throughout the years. Our father was a man whos greatest pleasures came from the simple things in life. Above all, he was a family man, who always put his family first. His love, encouragement, and advice carried us through many difficult times. His wife Irene, his brothers, John, Lawrence and Eric, and a special friend Edith predeceased him. He is survived by his children and their families, Ron, Cristina, and Alexandra of Edmonton; Judy, Ray, and Jason of Winnipeg; Jan, Rae, Jessie and Kerri of Winnipeg; Susan, Lawrence, Megan and Michael James of Winnipeg. Other surviving family members include his brothers and their wives, Donald and Marg of Kelowna, BC, and Gordon and Agnes of Calgary, Eileen of Minnedosa; along with many in-laws, nieces and nephews. His family and friends will dearly miss him. His loving, caring and compassionate nature will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at the Minnedosa United Church on Tuesday, June 26 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Minnedosa Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Sparrow Funeral Services in Minnedosa in care of arrangements.
