NETTIE SMILSKI It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nettie Smilski at the age of 92, on June 21, 2001 at the Maples Personal Care Home. Left to mourn are her daughters, Elsie (Alex) Peters, Phyllis (Michael) Drozd; son Sam (Guyla) grandchildren, Joanne Peters (Michael Dudar), Allison Peters, Reese (Daria), and Robert (Sandra) Smilski; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Danielle and Caden Smilski; her sister Anna Baydack; and sisters-in-law, Mary and Lorraine Halliday, and nieces and nephews. Nettie was predeceased by her husband Samuel in 1986; sister Marion Carr; and brothers, Joseph, Harry and Mitchell Halliday. Nettie was born in Winnipeg and resided in West Kildonan for over 75 years. She was kind, generous and devoted to her family, always ready to lend a helping hand to others. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at the Maples Personal Care Home and Seven Oaks Hospital for their care. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Fr. Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Flowers respectfully declined, if friends so desire donations may be made in Netties memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
