WILLIAM (BILL) JOHN DRISCOLL Suddenly at his residence at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage on Saturday, June 23, 2001, William John Driscoll, formerly a longtime resident of Lakeland, MB, passed away at the age of 85 years. Bill was born November 12, 1915 in Humbolt, MN, USA, a son of Edward and Alice (nee Foss) Driscoll. At an early age, William moved with his parents to the Woodside, MB district where he was raised and attended Woodside School. He then farmed in the Lakeland district for over 50 years until failing health in 1998 when he took up residence in the Lions Prairie Manor. His life centered around his love of his home and farm, welcoming many a guest by serving them a tasty meal. Bill will be remembered for being an avid hunter and trapper, but moreover for his great respect of nature and wildlife, often sharing his home and farm with pet raccoons and deer. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, Richard and Glen; and sister Lucy Kennedy. Bill is survived by one brother Harold (Christena) of Teulon, MB; one sister Joyce (Elmer) Kirschman of Portage; and numerous nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., on Tuesday evening June 26 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at the Westbourne Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Bills memory to the Westbourne Longburn Community Centre, in care of Terri Hall, Westbourne, MB R0H 1P0.
