MAISIE CONSTANCE MATTE June 13, 1912 - June 24, 2001 Peacefully, at the Victoria General Hospital, Mom left us to be with Dad (Larry). Mom was born in Birmingham, England to Don and Hilda Evans. She came to Canada at the age of eight, eventually settling in Winnipeg in Fort Rouge. She worked with Dr. Ralph Robinson for over 25 years. She met Dad on a blind date in 1939 and they were married December 1, 1945. Mom and Dad enjoyed many years together, especially those vacationing at the Lake of the Woods. Their retirement years were spent in Victoria, BC (1966 - 1994) and Moms final years were at The Rosewood Village in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her husband in 1990, Maisie was a mother to Gordon, Gerry (Lydia), Geoffrey (Cathy) and grandmother to Danielle, Joshua, Alannah and Jesse. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the management and staff at The Rosewood Village for the care of their mother in her final years. Also, appreciation is extended to Dr. Lynn Stadnyk, formerly of Winnipeg, and the staff of the emergency ward at Victoria General Hospital for their loving care and attention.
