ELINORE SKIDMORE April 14, 1932 - June 24, 2001 With sadness for ourselves, but great joy for her, the family of Elinore Skidmore announces her entrance into the waiting arms of her Saviour on June 24, 2001. Elinore was greatly loved and will be sadly missed, but warmly remembered by those yet to follow her, including her husband, Robert; children, Daniel and Heather (Scott) grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, and Andrew; as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Helen; and by her brother, Milton. Mom was born in Winnipeg in 1932. She married dad in 1964 and devoted her life to raising her two children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We would often find her at the kitchen table, Bible open, praying for us. Leafing through Moms Bible is like reading her life story, with special passages well-worn, poems and thoughts interspersed with the Scripture she so greatly loved. Mom passed on a Godly legacy to us, and for that, we are forever grateful. She often quoted the following poem to us when we would come to her with our troubles. When gently from my tight-closed hand God took of earthly things which I held dear, Confused, his love I did not understand; I grasped still more, lest more should disappear. But yet in love He took until To Him alone I turned, for all else seemed, Unsteady, apt to fade; Reluctant, still I gave to him the things I precious deemed. He took, but then he gladly gave First of himself, his love, his joy, and rest Until it seemed the things which I had saved Were worthless toys compared to heavens best. Then, while with willing, open hands I held all earthly gifts for Him to see And take or give, apart from my demands, He gave me back the things He took from me. God has chosen to take Mom home to be with Him. We are thankful for the time we had with her, and will always remember her with love. We would like to thank everyone from the Grace Hospital, especially Doctors, Joshua, Issacs, and Inglis, and the ICU nurses and from Health Sciences Centre, Doctors, Oppenheimer and Arneja for their compassion and caring. Special thanks to Brenda, Maryanne, Donna, and Jacques, and the rest of the nurses in SICU at HSC, who were infinitely caring and understanding during Moms last hours with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Touch Ministries. "Why art thou cast down, O my Soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my God." Psalm 42:11 Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at Victory Baptist Church, 3428 Portage Ave. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. and following the interment, a reception for family and friends will be held at Victory Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
