PALMYRE (POLLY) BUYDENS (nee HAEGEMAN) With great sadness we announce the death of Palmyre Buydens, on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at the age of 79 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Polly was predeceased by her husband Rene in 1962 and her brothers, Constance, Emile, Gaston and Lucien Haegeman; and her sister Alphonsine Van Den Bosch and her good friend Max Stefanyshen. She is survived by her children, Rita Borthwick (Jack) and Anita Norrie; also by her grandchildren, Noreen Poirier (Ray), Rhonda Slipec (Alex) and their children Christopher and Brayden,Lana Paulson (Gunnar) and their children, Kristen and Hannah, Rena Prefontaine and her children Brett and Ashley; and their father Laurence Roeland. Dean Norrie (Ola), Tracy Norrie, and Ryan Norrie and their father Gordon Norrie. Also left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-laws, Lynn Haegeman, Sarah Goderis and Elza Van Den Bussche, and numerous nieces and nephews. Polly was born in Somerset, to Benjamin and Louise Haegeman on May 13, 1922, and lived her entire adult life in Winnipeg. She loved growing flowers, working in her garden and giving everybody fresh vegetables. Polly was devoted to her family, and took great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Before her stroke in 1994, Polly was actively involved in John V Osborn Seniors Group, enjoyed Belgian Bowling and shuffleboard. She was a life long member of the Belgian Club. Polly loved to travel, and her most treasured trip was to Belgian with her daughters. After her stroke Polly resided at Tache Centre where she made many friends. A special thanks to her niece Lorette Deschouwer and Peter Deslauriers for all their visits and attention to our mother. Polly will always be remembered for her big smile and kind heart. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Parish Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd., with Reverend Fr. Fred Olds presiding.
