VERA (SCOTTY) MILLS On Monday, June 25, 2001, Vera (Scotty) Mills passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre just before her 82nd birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Bud in 1999; her parents, Robbie and Iris Houston of Starbuck, MB; and by her brother Jack Houston of Minneapolis, MN. She will be remembered by her two sons, Bob (Beth) of Toronto, ON and Jim (Dawn) of Prince Rupert, BC; five grandchildren, Jessie, Tom and Will Mills, Stephen Mills and Michelle (Tony) Martens; and one great-granddaughter McKinley Martens. Scotty was born on July 9, 1919 in Starbuck and was raised there on the family farm. She married Bud Mills on November 11, 1939. Through their lives together as Bud worked for International Harvester, they lived in all three prairie provinces, finally retiring to Souris, MB and Palm Springs, CA. Scotty loved cooking and entertaining. Friends and family remember the many singalongs around the piano at the end of a party, with Scotty at the keyboard and Bud singing beside her. Funeral service will be held from St. Pauls United Church, Souris on Friday, June 29 at 10:00 a.m. Interment of ashes in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Vera donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 203-42 McTavish Ave. E.
