Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN (JACK) MURPHY Peacefully, on Sunday, June 24, 2001, passed away in his 99th year. Predeceased in 1988, by his wife Viola. Sadly missed by daughters, Sharon (Bill) Stanier of Winnipeg, Lorraine Peters of London, ON; sons, George (Shirley) of Winnipeg, Jack (Terry) of Beaconia; grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; sisters-in-law, Margaret Gregory and Peggy Fair. John was born in Maugherlin, County Down, N. Ireland. In his youth enlisted in the army and travelled extensively. Came to Winnipeg in 1930, employed with Eatons for over 35 years and served with the Winnipeg Grenadiers (Aleutians) during the Second World War. John had strong beliefs. His faith and church were of utmost importance to him, attending Calvary Temple for many years. John was very athletic participating in many sports, continuing in recent years with lawn and carpet bowling. He enjoyed his time spent at the cottage, Grand Marais. Cremation has taken place, a private interment will follow at a later date.
