JOSEPH JAMES SABISTON Suddenly on June 25, 2001 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Joe passed away at the age of 54 years, after four years of battling illnesses. Joe was born on January 3, 1947 in Pine Falls, MB. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Catherine and James; and brothers, Larry and Roland. Joe leaves surviving his wife Matilda (nee Martin) and two grandchildren, Rocky and Crystal; brother Donald; sister Mary; his children and grandchildren, Joseph (Donna) and Jeremy, Samantha and Jasmin; Don-Lee; Sheila (Somphet) Chanthavong and Christopher, Louana and Cameron; Sabat (Tracy) and Johnathan, Junior, and Tyra; Corrine and family; Sonny Boy and family; Anthony (Linda) Martin and Anthony Jr., Shania, Shyanne, Shannon, Jeno and Jake; Mark (Melanie) Martin and Candice, Harry and Mark Jr.; Donald (Cheryl) Martin and Jessica, Michelle, Donald, Kellie and Tammy; Pete (Karen) Martin and Valeen, Paige, Myles and Vivian; Neil (Leighann) Martin; Frank (Candy) Martin and Frank Jr. and Angie; two special dear friends, Ernesto Centena of Kenora, ON, and Evelyn Chartrand of Dauphin, MB; two nieces, Chantell of Dauphin and Cindy Pless of Germany; two nephews, Earl of Dauphin and Kevin of Easterville; and a special godchild, Cailie of Dauphin. Joe will be sadly missed by everyone who loved him. Our memories will be of his beautiful smile. Joe enjoyed many outings and his favourite was the family gatherings. Thanks to all his relatives and his friends and special thanks to nursing staff and doctor who cared for him at Selkirk General Hospital. A viewing and prayers for Joe will be on Thursday, June 28 at 8:15 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk, with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Cremation will follow. His pallbearers will be Joseph Albert, Jonas (Sonny Boy) and Sabat Sabiston, Peter, Neil and Frank Martin, Christopher Chanthavong and Rocky Bruce. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in his memory to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
