EDMUND WADIEN April 14, 1923 - June 26, 2001 After a lengthy illness and suffering, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Edmund was predeceased by his brothers, Erich, Erwin; sister Ella; brothers-in-law, Erwin and Johny; nephew Dieter; and niece Rita. Left to cherish his beautiful memory his loving wife Ursula of 47 years; daughters, Lorraine, Barbara (Paolo), Anita (Doug) and one son Eddie. Also left to mourn his three beloved granddaughters, Stacia, Chelsea, and Brittany. He is also survived by his siblings, Olga (Otto), Frieda, Ewald (Elfrieda), Alma, Reinhold (Betty), Hilda (Reinhart) in-laws, Inge and Elmar; and also numerous nieces and nephews. Edmund was born in Germany in 1923, and at the age of 29 he immigrated to Canada, where he later met and married his wife Ursula in 1954. Together they had four children whom he loved very much. He later retired from the Health Sciences Centre as a Steam and Refrigeration Engineer in 1988. Edmund enjoyed travelling, gardening, and had a real love for animals, especially birds. He was a great handyman and could often be seen with his toolbox in hand. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m. from the chapel of Glen Lawn Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Kruesel officiating. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, "Lift Fund", 708 McCalman Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1G7. Special thanks to D4 staff for their kindness and compassion shown towards our father and husband. An extra special thank-you to Dr. Jeffrey and Dr. Penner for their warmth, kindness and support given to both our parents during this difficult time.
