Born: Dec 29, 1916
Date of Passing: Jun 27, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN FALK December 29, 1916 - June 27, 2001 With sadness we announce the passing of Helen Falk. She is survived by her sisters, Eva Schellenberg, and Margaret Ediger (Willie) and sister-in-law Sarah Falk; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Nettie Fast and brother Ben Falk. Helen was born in Steinfeld, Russia and her family immigrated to Canada in 1923 to Altona and then farmed in Westbourne for years. Helen came to Winnipeg in 1949 and worked at Glesby Garments into the 1960s when she began at Concordia Hospital. There she worked in the bakery department, and with Helens sweet tooth, that is testament to her determination and will power. Helen retired in 1981 and gave many hours of her time as a volunteer and worshipper at First Mennonite Church. She supported many of the churchs efforts, including Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, where her generous donations earned her a plaque on the Donors Wall. Helen spent her last six years in Bethania where she was well known by the staff of the 600 Wing. Helen greatly appreciated the caring staff who tended to her needs with such gentle love. Helen passed on with her family around her, her favourite country music playing, and in great peace. Pallbearers are Ron Henderson, Harry Schellenberg, Heinz Janzen, Peter Janzen, Tom Dare, and Henry Fast. Helen and the family ask that those wishing to send flowers consider instead making a donation in Helens name to Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home. Viewing will be held between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, Kerrs Funeral Chapel, 120 Adelaide St. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., July 3, at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave., with Rev. Franz Wiebe officiating. Coffee will follow the service. Interment to follow after the reception at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. KERRS FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements. Ph. 943-6688.
