MATTHEW JOHN PAUL LANGENFELD Peacefully, on Wednesday, June 27, 2001, Matt passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 84 years. Matt will be sadly missed by his wife Frances; daughter Loretta (Bob) grandchildren, Rhonda (Terry), Jeff, and Kristie; great-granddaughter Ashley; his sisters, Mary of Kelowna, and Alvina; brother Fred (Vivian) numerous nieces, nephews, and all of his many friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary; and sisters, Anne and Rose. Matt was born in Winnipeg on November 27, 1916. He grew up with and married Frances on February 14, 1942. He worked at Riedels Brewery and then managed several Gordon Hotels in Elm Creek, Deloraine and Winnipeg, and then to No. 1 Legion on Sargent, where he retired. In his retirement he loved to make things (his basement and garage always had projects on the go). He enjoyed working with wood, while listening to old time music. The family would like to thank Dr. D. Ross, Dr. Yan and staff at Kildonan Medical Centre, the staff of Seven Oaks Observation Unit, 4U4 and 5U7 for their care and concerns during his stay. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Terance McGrath officiating. A private interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Matts memory to a charity of ones choice.
