Date of Passing: Jun 01, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT SCOTT BALL It is with deep sorrow that the family announces, after a long illness, the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father and grandfather peacefully on July 1, 2001 at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, with his family at his side. Robert was born in Dauphin, MB on December 13, 1919 to James Ball and Edna Bowes; the family moved to Winnipeg in 1929. He is survived by his wife Therese; son Robert (Candace) daughter Christine; stepsons, Grant Gregory (Debra) and Jim Gregory (Maureen) grandchildren, David Ball, Jodi Ball, Connor Gregory, Kelly Gregory and Shannon Gregory. He is also survived by his sister Margaret (Bill), brother Don (Marge) and sister-in-law Mary Ball. He was predeceased by his parents, his father James Ball died in 1922; his brothers, Jim, Gordon, Jack; and sisters, Edna and Dulcie. On graduation from Kelvin High School, Robert found employment at Western Grain. Robert served with the RCAF as a navigator with the rank of Flying Officer, enlisting in March 1942 and going overseas in November 1943 to return in May of 1945. Upon his return, Robert articled as a chartered accountant student with Miller MacDonald and graduated in 1951. In 1957 Robert started his own practice, which he enjoyed greatly, especially tax-related work. He became a member of the Chartered Accountants 50 year club this year but was unable to attend the Member Recognition Luncheon on June 7, 2001 because of ill health. Robert was a very generous and hard working individual. He always had a helping hand for anyone and everyone. He found great delight in the many visits from Connor and Kelly and their little trips together to Safeway on the scooter. In compliance with Roberts wishes, immediate cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service, only a private family gathering. Our family wishes to extend special thanks to Drs. Jeffrey and Rush, and the nurses at the Transplant Clinic in the Health Sciences Centre, as well as the doctors and staff at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in Roberts memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of choice. WERESCHUK FUNERAL CHAPEL 582-0929
