GERDA CHARLOTTE ERIKA TARDIFF Gerda Tardiff passed away peacefully at the Ste. Rose General Hospital on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at the age of 79 years. She will be sadly missed by her numerous friends and family members. Gerda was born on December 31, 1921 in Hohenweisen, Schlesien, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Freida Birko. Gerda married Fritz Paetzold and immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her older daughter Edeltraud. In 1956, Werner made his appearance into the family. In 1959, Gerda married Armand Tardiff and settled into farm life and raised three more children, Roger, Irene and Rene. Gerda filled her days with the things she loved, family, cooking and gardening. She loved her flowers, especially "Grandmas flower bed". Her baking skills were unsurpassed and her family had expanded to include nine grand-children. Gerda will be remembered for her indomitable spirit and for the many things that she did for the people she cared about. Gerda was predeceased by her husband Armand Tariff on February 14, 1994. She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Eda (Guy) LeBreton of Winnipeg, Werner (Shirley) Paetzold of Windsor, ON, Roger Tardiff of Makinak, Irene (Gerry) Bonin of Ste. Rose du Lac and Rene (Yvonne) Tardiff of Ochre River; her grandchildren, Krystal, Ashley, Jevon, Leslie, Sarah, Lance, Ashley, Chantell and Carissa; as well as many extended family members and friends. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Michel Nault will officiate, with the interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. All of Gerdas friends are to consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Gerda to the ALS Society or the Stroke Association of Manitoba. A special thank you to Dr. Van Rooyen and the nursing staff at the Ste. Rose General Hospital for the excellent care that she received. Thank you to Gerdas homecare workers for their excellent care and concern.
