Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNELLIE MARIA CARSJENS November 2, 1918 - June 28, 2001 Peacefully on June 28, 2001 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Nellie Carsjens passed away at the age of 82 years. Nellie was born in Kerkrade, Holland and was predeceased by her husband Jack (July 28, 1990). She is very fondly and lovingly remembered by her children, Wim (Daniele) Carsjens of Ottawa, Paul (Frances) Carsjens of Montreal, and Jeanne Cromb (Bruce) of Winnipeg; as well as her six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Carl, Cynthia, Christian and Bruce. Nellie had one great-grandchild, Phillipe aged one year and three months. She is also survived by her three sisters, Annie, Mariets, both of Holland, and Gertrude, of Australia; as well as her brother Sjef, also in Holland. Ma and Oma was always very special to her children and grandchildren, especially Jeff and Brian from Winnipeg, with whom she spent a lot of her childhood with at the beach and babysitting. Nellie had a medically difficult life, but experienced much enjoyment and satisfaction from her children and grandchildren. She was musically talented and sang lead soprano in operatic productions in her native Holland. She enjoyed cooking, classical music, opera and played a mean game of cards. Her quality of life was diminished by the passing of her husband Jack of 50 years, and the stroke she endured last October, from which she recovered against all odds and regained her speech and some mobility. Funeral service and celebration of life will be held at Green Acres on Highway #1 on Tuesday, July 3 at 10:00 a.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers and at the request of the family, if friends desire, donations may be made to a charity of their choice. The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation for the nursing staff and aides of the 3rd and 4th floor of the Convalescent home for their loving and tending care - you were all wonderful.
