ELIZABETH (BETTY) GERLACH Peacefully, on Friday, June 29, 2001 Elizabeth (Betty) Gerlach passed away at the age of 76. Betty will be sadly missed by Jack, her life partner, best friend, and husband of 50 years; daughters, Judy (Charlie), Susan (David), Valerie (Jim) son John Douglas; her eight grandchildren, Stephen, David, James, Jack, Katherine, Luke, Daniel, Kyle; her brother Stan (Helen) sister Millie (Don) brother-in-law Hank (Marion) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Jacks sister Marie and her husband Walt. She was involved in many community activities; a member and president of Kiwanis Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Bettys family was the center of her life. She was a loving wife and mother who, by example, instilled in all of us the true meaning of family. Mom loved family gatherings being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, camping at Big Whiteshell Lake, and travelling with her family and her husband. The twinkle in her eye and her loving presence will be remembered by everyone who met her. The family expresses their heart-felt gratitude to Dr. Susan Hauch and Elizabeth Smith of the Tache Medical Center for their compassionate care and support of all of us. Sincere thanks to the very special staff of 3 East at Riverview Health Centre for their kindness, hugs, and gentle care. A memorial service to celebrate Bettys life will take place at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., Wednesday, July 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., R3B 2H8 of the Palliative Care Unit and Riverview Health Center, 1 Morley, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4.
