GERALD BOAN of Regina, SK, passed away very peacefully on July 1, 2001 with his children at his side. Gerald was predeceased by his wife Doreen. He leaves to mourn his memory his three children, Craig (Nancy) Boan of Winnipeg, Wendy (Stan) Searcy of Regina, and Bev (Keith) Irvine of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Aileen, Jena, Cameron, Chad, Jared and Jesse; his brother Larry (Carol) Boan of Osoyoos; his sisters, Eileen Skeleton of Moose Jaw, Audrey (Martin) Tysdale of Briercrest, Doris Sawchuk of Calgary, Barb Vogelgesang of Saskatoon and Bonnie (Dave) Ingeberg of Spruceview; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerald was born on a farm near Briercrest. He was blessed with a large family that stayed close throughout the years by way of annual family reunions. He loved farming and the closeness to the outdoors. He was especially fond of the animal life that went with it, particularly with horses. Gerald worked for the CPR both in Regina and Winnipeg as a carman for thirty years. Gerald was not given to flash and dazzle. Rather he was the man you could count on - the good neighbour who was there when you needed him. Gerald was very much a family man, always proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. In family circles, Gerald was known for his remarkable talent of being able to repair everything from fences to skinned knees. In retirement, Gerald enjoyed his senior walking club, woodworking and playing games with the grandchildren. On May 12 of this year, Gerald was left to grieve the passing of Doreen, his wife of fifty years. They had enjoyed travel, family and helping to organize the family reunions. Now, they are enjoying their final reunion. May it be joyful and eternal. Special thanks to Pat and all the staff at Parkside Extendicare for the care and compassion shown to Gerald and his family. Memorial celebration will be held at Regina Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1470 Wascana Street, Regina, SK, S4T 4J5. Arrangements are entrusted to the Regina Funeral Home (789-8850). Your helping hand was always first to render any aid you could. Your voice was always raised in praise. Your words were wise and good. Dear Dad since you have gone away as ones youve loved so true Well try hard to carry on the way we know youd want us to.
