Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHEODOR ALBERT STEG Theodor Albert Steg born September 10, 1913 passed away peacefully July 1, 2001 at the Emerson Personal Care Home with his children at his side. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Mary Anne (Norman) Pow; grandchildren, John (Tasha Owen) Pow; great-grandchild Cayla Anne; his son Lloyd (Delores) Steg; grandchild Doreen (Tim Schultz) Steg; great-grandchildren Dylan and Kelsey; grandchild Barbara (Ross) Gould; great-grandchildren, Daniel and Courtney. He is also survived by one sister Alma (Ted) Hartwig; stepmother Elizabeth Steg; brother-in-law Fred Otto; sisters-in-law Ida Otto, Lena Pollard, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Theodor Albert Steg was predeceased by his parents, Ludwig and Anne Steg; his wife Edna (Otto) Steg 1915 - 1985; his sister and husband Elsie (Frank) Casper. Dad was born on his fathers farm in Ridgeville which he continued to farm after his marriage to mom, Edna in 1938, and continued to do so with his son Lloyd until he suffered a spinal chord stroke in 1996. Dad and mom moved east of the homestead to the treeline in 1965 and dad remained there until 1996, when he had to move to Southgate and in 1999 to the Emerson Personal Care. His interest in farming, be it grain or cattle remained with him his entire life. Dad was active in the community, supporting community projects, holding office in many and enjoyed hunting and sports. He was a lifetime member of the Ridgeville Curling Club, baseball, 4-H, and member of the Zion Lutheran Church Friedensthal, and enjoyed all sports on television. Dad was a charter member of one of the areas hunting groups and also enjoyed playing cards. Dad enjoyed his three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren which held a very special place in his life. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church in Friedensthal, MB north-east of Emerson, MB with Pastor Gary Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Friedensthal Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service. In memory of Theodor Albert Steg, donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund. Pallbearers are John Pow, Tim Schultz, Dennis Casper, Maurice Default, Ralph Otto Jr. and Milton Otto. "The family wish to express our gratitude to Sandra and the homecare staff for care extended to dad, during his stay at Southgate. Also to Meals on Wheels, the doctors, nursing staff and Tammy at the Emerson Personal Care Home for their excellent care and consideration extended to dad and us while a resident."
