FLORENCE G. DONALD Aged 89, beloved mother of John of Winnipeg (wife Verlie) and Bill of Vancouver (wife Leslie) and grandmother to Brandi, Ainsley and Matthew, died peacefully in her sleep with her family around her, July 2, 2001. Florence was born and raised in Winnipeg and spent most of her adult life in the Norwood area of the city. Predeceased by her husband Jack in 1964, she raised her two sons with love and devotion. A lifelong member of Norwood United Church, Florence was a caring and active volunteer within her community. Florence was blessed with many friends and was a member of a bridge club that had been continuously active with many of the original members for 73 years. Florence loved to read and was an avid gardener and kept working in her garden into her late 80s. She was one of Gods special people and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the rehab unit at Concordia Hospital, the orthopedic unit at St. Boniface Hospital and the surgical ICU of St. Boniface Hospital for their care and attention. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. at Norwood United Church, 160 St. Marys Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
