Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDAVID KEVIN BLAHITKA It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Blahitka on July 3, 2001 near Slave Falls, MB. Dave is survived by his wife and best friend Erin; loving children, Taylor and Jordan; brother Todd (Francine - Justin, Evan and Megan) sister Kerri (Geoff) father and mother, Ernie and Louise Blahitka; grandmother Annie Blahitka; sisters-in-law, Colleen Brooks (Joby - Kyle, Kelsey and Joshua), Audrey Wilgosh (John - Michael and Sara) father and mother-in-law, Brian and Dorothy Anderson; and many, many more family and friends. Dave was born in Selkirk, MB on January 18, 1964. He completed his school years in Selkirk and went on to achieve his Journeyman Power Electrician ticket. Thus began his career with Manitoba Hydro. In 1997 Dave and family moved to Pointe du Bois, MB where he started his power plant career at Slave Falls. Dave was a dedicated volunteer fireman with the Pointe du Bois Fire Department. Dave was instrumental in both establishing and maintain-ing the community skating rink, especially for the children. He was a union representative for CUPE Local 500 and was active in organizing local fundraisers to provide recreation for the children in the community. Dave loved country living and all the simple things that life had to offer. He was a loving father who enjoyed bike riding with his kids, snowmobiling, skating, taking them to the beach and sliding at Pams. Not to mention the time he spent with Taylor and Jordan picking out and marking the family Christmas tree in the previous spring. Daves legacy to Taylor and Jordan is a treasury of wonderful childhood memories. Dave took pride in his garden. He and Erin worked together picking and preserving it for the winter. Visitors were always welcomed with a hardy helping of fish cooked in a skillet over an open fire. Dave touched many lives and will be sadly missed and never forgotten. A memorial mass in celebration of Daves life will be held on Saturday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk, with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Parish Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the people who made every effort to save Daves life. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been set up for Taylor and Jordan at the South Interlake Credit Union in Lac du Bonnet, MB. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
