VICTOR HOMYSHYN Miss me - but let me go. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared. Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. It is all part of the Masters plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart, go to the friends we know and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds. Miss me - but let me go. Suddenly without warning Victor Homyshyn, beloved husband of Nora, passed from this life into the next on June 23, 2001. Leaving to mourn and cherish his memory are his loving wife Nora; daughter Tracy (Philip Hare), grandchildren, Emma and Jackson; daughter Jackie, all of Penticton, BC. Stepchildren, Michele (Bruce Pennington), grandchildren, Justin and Nicole; Janine (Bill Finch), grandchildren, Collin and Chase; and Michael (Michelle) Ford. Vic is also survived by two brothers, John (Josie), Roy (Kathy), and their children, Janet, Jason and Shelly. Born and raised on the family farm in Alberta, Vic moved to Winnipeg and commenced his career with Scott Bathgate that spanned some 42 years. He was affectionately known as the "Candyman" by old and young alike. Nora and Vic were looking forward to retirement at the end of July and spending time travelling, which they loved so much. To celebrate Vics 65th birthday they were to spend a month in Penticton with their children and grandchildren. Vic had not yet seen his grandson Jackson, born May 27, 2001, and was waiting with much anticipation in doing so. While Papa loved all of his grandchildren with a passion, his little Emma was the apple of his eye. Vic always had a smile and a laugh that was truly infectious. Nora and Vic loved to dance and take long walks just enjoying each others company. Vic cherished and loved Nora, often leaving her notes in unexpected places expressing his love. They spent 14 very happy years together. In times when Mom was ill, Vic was a compassionate and caring husband who gave of himself unselfishly. It was Vics expressed wish that no funeral service be held and cremation has taken place. A celebration of Vics life will be held on Sunday, July 8 at 604 - 85 Swindon Way, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. To my "Papa with no Hair" you will always be close to me because I will keep you in my heart. Kiss Denny for me. Love Nicole (6).
