BARBARA MERLE LUNN (nee LYTLE) Barbara M. Lunn died this day, July 2, 2001, at Vernon, BC. Predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John M. Lunn in 1997. The younger daughter of the late Ernest and Ada (Kitson) Lytle. Barbara was born in Portage la Prairie, MB, 1932, moving with the family to Winnipeg at age six. Educated at Lord Kitchener School and St. Johns High School, Barbara began her office career with the Manitoba Telephone System, Winnipeg. After her marriage to John Lunn she moved to Portage and on to Saskatoon where she was employed with the district office of the post office. In 1958 they were transferred to Baden-Baden, Germany, where they remained for a four year tour. Upon their return to Canada, a transfer to Centralia and Clinton, ON where John (Jack) remustered to the electronic trade. Numerous postings thereafter until 1974. Barbara and Jack lived 16 years in Grande Prairie where Barbara was employed with the Canada Employment Commission, retiring from the federal service in 1989. In 1990 they moved to Vernon, BC. Barbara is survived by her brother James A. E. Lytle (Amy) of Winnipeg, a niece Elizabeth Hoepner of Australia, nephew Les Lytle (Eileen) of Winnipeg, uncle (Bill) H. W. Kitson (Diane) of Portage la Prairie, and uncle Les Kitson of Vancouver, BC. Friends, Dave and Karen Morris of Sexsmith, AB, Dave and Lynda May-Hamm of Vernon, and friends across the country and in the Okanagan. A sister in British Columbia. Since her retirement, it was Barbaras greatest moment when she took on a volunteer job at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She thoroughly enjoyed her many hours on duty and the wonderful people she met. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral nor memorial service. Cremation to take place and the ashes to Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg for interment in the family plot. Vernon Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. If friends so desire, a donation to the Hospice House, Vernon, BC, or the Baerg/McMurtry Cancer Clinic at Vernon Jubilee Hospital would be appreciated.
