LOIS ANNE EDNA DAVIDSON (nee McKERCHAR) 1934 - 2001 After a courageous battle, Lois Davidson (Mom/Nanna), aged 67 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 3, 2001, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Besides her loving husband Lyall, Lois leaves her son Rob, daughter-in-law Cindy, grandchildren, Katie and Bryce; her brother Duncan (Marge) of Calgary; brother-in-law Eric (Margaret) of Selkirk; her nephews, Scott McKerchar (Sue) of St. Albert, AB, Paul Davidson (Sue) of Cranbrook, BC; nieces, Lisa Weremy (Andy) and Sue Medock (Mark) of Selkirk, and Shauna Crombie (Doug) of Calgary; all of their children; and many other close family and friends. We all miss her terribly, and cherish the time and love we shared with her. Lois was born June 22, 1934 in Winnipeg, and grew up in Fort Rouge and Riverview, where she attended Lord Roberts School and graduated from Kelvin High School. She was actively involved in sports and theatre, playing on many teams and dancing in several musicals. After high school, she obtained her Certificate from The Canadian Society of Radiological Technicians, and worked as an X-Ray Technician at the Childrens Hospital, and later at the St. Boniface Clinic. It was during her training that she met Lyall, whom she married at Rosedale United Church on May 5, 1956. Children and crafts were a recurring theme throughout her life, beginning with her work with the Explorers at John Black United Church, and culminating with her and Lyalls work for the St. Agnes Guild (associated with the Childrens Hospital), where she became a life member earlier this year. Her skills were wide ranging, and she made many exquisite items, working with wood, fabric and paper. She also enjoyed countless hours doing crafts with her grandchildren, and was forever coming up with unique and entertaining ideas to share with them. Her greatest passion was her family. She was as proud of them as they are of her. She also cherished her many friendships, as reflected by a sign she made that reads: "Friends are a chosen family". Her other passions included flowers and travel, fashion, music, reading, decorating, and of course, West Hawk Lake, where she and her family spent all of their summers after 1965. It was here that she was happiest, surrounded by her family, her good friends, and her flowers. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with Rev. Anne Duncan officiating. Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The St. Agnes Guild, in care of Mrs. Jane White, 516 Kelvin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 0J4; the Parkinsons Foundation; or the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the many friends who cared for Lois and Lyall over these past months, including the nurses and doctors at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Your care and understanding was offered at a time of great need, and will long be remembered. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
