Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTEKLA (KATE) STADNYK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tekla Stadnyk, a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully in her sleep at Park Manor Personal Care Home on Wednesday, July 4, 2001. Tekla was pre-deceased by an infant son in the 1920s; her husband Peter in 1956; son-in-law Rudy (Philip) Werth in 1993; and her brother Paul Bamburak and sister Mary Andruschak. She is survived by her three children, daughter Mary (Mitchell) Wojna, East St. Paul, daughter Nellie Werth, Transcona, and son John (Barb) Stadnyk, Bolton, ON; sister Nellie Kuzyk and her son Brian; as well as 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Tekla (nee Bamburak) was born in the Rembrandt area of Manitoba on August 12, 1904. Her family lived in various areas of Manitoba as well as Winnipeg. Tekla married Peter Stadnyk in 1922. Peter worked for the C.P.R. as a section foreman. They moved to various Saskatchewan towns, settling in Jansen, SK for nearly 30 years. After Peters death, Tekla moved to 430 Regent Ave. W. in Winnipeg. Being a wonderful cook and eternal hostess, she had many teachers boarding in her home. She was the unifying matriarch of the family, entertaining 30 plus family members through the years in her home, for every major holiday. She loved gardening and won recognition for her efforts in the C.P.R. newsletters from the Saskatoon to Yorkton area. Tekla was a faithful member of St. Georges Anglican Church in Transcona. She enjoyed travelling, reading, stamp collecting, coin collecting and baking. As a mother and grandmother, she was someone you could model your life after. Her passion was her family and they will love and miss her forever . . . The family wishes to thank all the staff at Park Manor Personal Care Home in Transcona, for their loving care, compassion and concern. Prayers will be said on Sunday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with grandson Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 9 at Transcona Funeral Chapel (222-6677) at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Frasier Hunter officiating, assisted by Rev. Brad Elliott. Interment will be at the Transcona Cemetery. A gathering of friends and relatives will follow in the Transcona Funeral Chapel reception area. If so desired, donations can be made in Teklas memory to the St. Georges Anglican Church Transcona Building Fund, Park Manor Personal Care Home, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba, Diabetes Fund or Winnipeg Firefighters Burn Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Transcona Funeral Chapel.
