Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryABRAM K. DOERKSEN Peacefully, on July 4, 2001 Abram K. Doerksen of Carman MB, passed away at the Boyne Lodge in Carman at the age of 81 years. Abe was the beloved husband of Muriel (Owen) also father of Garth (Norma Lee), Keewatin, ON, Dennis (Marlene), Stephenfield, MB, Diane (Ron) Duncan, Winnipeg, Blake, Winnipeg, Joanne (Darren) Gunn, Saskatoon, SK; grandfather of 11; great-grandfather of 13. Abe was predeceased by his parents, Abe and Elizabeth; his brother Jacob; and son-in-law Michael Duncan. Abe was born in Giroux, MB on September 22, 1919. He moved with his parents to Stephenfield in 1930 to begin the family farm. In 1940 Abe and Muriel were married. Shortly after being married Abe was called to serve in the Canadian Forces and did so until 1945. Upon his discharge Abe and Muriel moved back to the family farm and raised their family as well as participating in community activities. In 1975 Abe began work at Stephenfield Provincial Park and enjoyed the work for 10 years. Abe was an enthusiastic gardener and spent many hours at his favourite pastime. He continued to help on the family farm as long as he was able. Abe and Muriel moved to Carman in 1998. Abe and Muriel celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Our family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of the Boyne Lodge in Carman for the exceptional care and attention that was extended to Dad during his stay. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff, Brad, David, Michael, Jason and Christopher Doerksen, and grandson-in-law Dave Paquin. Everyone in attendance will be considered an honorary pallbearer. Funeral service will be held July 7, at 3:00 p.m. from the Carman United Church, with Rev. Harold Kenyon officiating. Interment in the family plot Graysville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish they may make donations to Boyne Lodge, Carman, MB or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Doyles of Carman in care of arrangements.
